Privacy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

CoopGames has no accounts or login. This page explains what the app saves when your group uses a poll and when it gets deleted.

On your device

  • The first time you create or open a poll, your browser generates a random code and keeps it in its local storage (localStorage). That's how the app recognizes your answers and votes when you come back. The code goes to our server with each answer, and the server stores only a SHA-256 hash of it, never the code itself.
  • The browser also saves your language, the platforms you picked last time so the next poll starts with them, and whether you've already seen the tip about sliding the times. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes all of it.

Visits and usage

  • Vercel Web Analytics: counts visits without cookies and only shows us totals: which page, where the visit came from, the country and the type of device. Poll links are recorded without their code.
  • Usage counts: every day we add up how many polls are created, get answered, end with a winner or fail. Those totals don't point to any person or poll and are kept after the polls are deleted.

What a poll saves

Everything is linked to the poll and to the hash of your code, never to an email or an account.

  • When you create a poll: the group's name, how many of you are playing, whether you play online or together, the date range and your time zone.
  • When you answer: your alias (the app suggests one like "Shy Creeper" and you can change it), your time zone and the country it points to, which is used to show prices in your currency, your platforms, genres and styles, how you like to play, your budget and whether you'd pay for a subscription, the days and hours you can play, and the games you mark as already owned.
  • During the vote and the agenda: your vote in each round and the sessions you join.

The rest of the group sees your alias next to the combined results, while your individual answers are shown only to you.

When it's deleted

  • 24 hours after the group gets its result (the winning game and the agenda), or 24 hours after the poll fails because the group didn't answer or vote in time. The same applies when no game works for the whole group.
  • If a poll never gets that far, it's deleted 7 days after the last day of its date range.
  • Deleting a poll also deletes its answers, votes and sessions. The cleanup runs every hour, so it can take up to an hour longer.

Other services

  • Hosting: Convex hosts the database and the server that runs the polls, and Vercel hosts the website. Like any host, they handle technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages.
  • Prices: our server gets prices from IsThereAnyDeal, Steam and the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo stores, and those requests only include a game and a country code. On game pages, your browser guesses your country from its time zone and sends only that country code to our server to show prices in your currency.
  • Images and trailers: game covers and screenshots load from Steam's and IGDB's image servers, which see your IP address like any site you load an image from. Trailers use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and only load when you press play.
  • Calendar: the buttons that add a session to Google Calendar or Outlook open those sites with the game and the time, and only when you tap them.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data and there are no ads on the site.
