Friendslop Games to Play With Friends

Updated November 1, 2026

Friendslop is slang for cheap online co-op games from small studios that a group of friends plays for the chaos, like Peak, R.E.P.O., Lethal Company and Content Warning. The rules fit in one sentence and the fun comes from what the group does to itself, so most of them need no experience and cost under $10. Start with Peak or R.E.P.O. on PC, and with Content Warning or Among Us if the group is on PS5 or Xbox.

What counts as a friendslop game?

Wikipedia describes friendslop as cooperative indie games with a low barrier to entry, built for groups of friends. Here a game has to cost $20 or less at full price, come from a small studio, have come out in 2020 or later, have at least 85% positive reviews on Steam and still have people playing. Among Us, from 2018, is the one exception, because the genre is usually traced back to it. Prices are Steam's US list prices, so they are often lower during a sale.

What are the best friendslop games?

These six are what most people mean by the word. Peak and R.E.P.O. are the ones to start with, both under $10. Lethal Company needs a bit more planning, Content Warning has console versions, Chained Together also runs on one screen, and How to Fish is the newest.

  • PC

No couch co-op: everyone needs their own screen.

    Peak

    $7.99

The one to start with if your group has never played a friendslop game. You climb a mountain that changes every day, and ropes and climbing spikes let the strong climbers set up routes for the slow ones. Each biome ends at a campfire where the group waits for whoever is behind.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about an hour, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

    R.E.P.O.Early access

    $9.99

You play robots that haul valuables out of abandoned buildings to meet a quota while monsters roam. Objects are physics-based and lose value with every bump, and voice chat fades with distance, so splitting up means losing contact with the rest. A dead teammate comes back if you carry their head to the extraction point.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about two hours, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

No couch co-op: everyone needs their own screen.

    Lethal CompanyEarly access

    $9.99

This one needs a plan. A crew lands on a moon to collect scrap before the ship leaves at midnight, and usually one person stays at the ship's terminal reading the radar and opening locked doors while the rest go in with flashlights and shovels. Voice only carries up close or over walkie-talkies, which is where most of the trouble starts.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about two hours, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

Works for a group split between PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch. You dive into the Old World to film monsters and upload the video to SpookTube, and you have three days to hit a view quota. There is one camera per dive, so someone holds it while the others find monsters and stay in the shot.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about an hour, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

  • PC

    4 online4 on one screen

Four players chained to each other climb out of hell by jumping across platforms, and when one misses the chain drags everyone down. Outside beginner mode there are no checkpoints, so a bad fall near the top costs the whole climb. It is also one of the few on this list that also runs on one screen.

One copy is enough to play online together. A typical session runs about two hours, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

    How to Fish

    $7.99

The newest one here. After a boat crash you fish, kill fish and sell them to buy better gear and weapons, and quests and bosses lead to new islands with more dangerous creatures. It plays solo or with up to four friends.

Each player needs their own copy. It came out on August 20, 2026.

What are the best scary friendslop games?

Lethal Company, R.E.P.O. and Content Warning are horror too, so this section holds the ones where being scared is the whole point. Phasmophobia has a mystery to solve, Escape the Backrooms and Devour are about running and shouting, and Shift At Midnight fits two or three people. For more, see co-op horror games.

For a group that wants a mystery to solve. You enter a haunted house, farmhouse or school with a thermometer or EMF reader, find the ghost's room and collect evidence until you can name the ghost type. The ghost hears your microphone, and when it hunts the doors lock and there is no way to fight back.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about two hours, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

Good for a group that likes getting lost together. You start in Level 0 of the Backrooms and each of the more than 30 levels has its own way out, like repairing a ladder with four wooden pieces to reach the first key. Voice chat is proximity-based, so the ones who wander off stop hearing the rest.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about two hours, and progress carries over to the next one.

    Devour

    $9.99

A possessed cult leader hunts the group while you finish the ritual that stops her, like burning ten goats on an altar. Each step makes her faster, and a UV flashlight holds her off for a moment. Expect a lot of running and shouting across maps where doors and items move every game.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about an hour, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

For two or three people. You run a gas station at night, stocking shelves and ringing up sales while one of you checks each customer's ID on the computer to spot doppelgangers. The ones you miss come back later to kill you.

Everyone needs their own copy. A typical session runs about an hour, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.

What are the best friendslop party games?

The game the genre is usually traced to, and the one on the most platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox and Switch play in the same lobby. Crewmates do tasks around a spaceship while impostors kill and sabotage, and when a body is reported everyone debates and votes. It needs at least four people to start and works best with eight or more.

A free version of the same idea with dozens of roles, for a lobby of ten or more. Geese do tasks while ducks hide among them, and voice chat is by proximity, so you can overhear a conversation or get caught alone. A Dodo wins by getting voted out and a Pelican has to outlive everyone.

Puppies, kittens and other wobbly animals punch, grab and throw each other off the map, with team modes like soccer on top of last one standing. Bots fill the empty spots, so it works for a group of any size up to eight.

One copy is enough, because the second player joins free with the Friend's Pass. A typical session runs about an hour, and each round stands on its own, so you can stop after any of them.
