What is Child of Light like?
One carries the story while the other guides the firefly that helps in fights.
Player one controls Aurora, a girl crossing the kingdom of Lemuria in a side-scrolling world, and the second player takes Igniculus, a firefly that flies freely around the screen. Outside battles he opens chests Aurora can't reach and helps with puzzles. Battles run on a timeline, and hitting a fighter while they're casting knocks them back on it. Igniculus can shine on an enemy to slow it down or heal an ally for as long as his energy lasts, and he refills it by hovering over flowers. The dialogue is written in rhyming verse.
Will your group like Child of Light?
Families with a young kid who can play the firefly next to a parent, since Igniculus mostly needs a stick and a trigger, all on one screen.
Two players who both want a full role, since Igniculus is support and gets less to do as the puzzles thin out, or friends who want to play online, which it doesn't have.
