What is Kirby Air Riders like?

Up to 16 roam a city collecting upgrades for their machine, then face off in a final event.

Machines accelerate on their own, so you mostly steer, and the B button handles both braking and boosting. In City Trial everyone roams the city of Skyah for five minutes collecting power-ups and switching machines, with random events like falling meteors, and then the group votes on a Stadium contest such as a drag race or a battle arena. Air Ride is lap racing on 18 tracks. Up to four play on one Switch 2 and up to 16 online in City Trial, and GameShare lets friends without the game join from their own console.

Will your group like Kirby Air Riders?

Yes

Families with kids who are new to racing games, since the machine drives forward by itself, and groups big enough to fill a 16-player City Trial.

No

Anyone without a Switch 2, since it's exclusive to that console, or players who only want straight racing, since much of the game is City Trial's collecting and Stadium contests.
