What is Sonic Mania like?
One plays Sonic, the other Tails, or race each other in split screen.
In the main game one player is Sonic and the second follows as Tails on the same screen, helping with enemies and rings while the camera follows Sonic. The zones are a mix of remixed classics and new ones. If you'd rather race, Competition mode splits the screen and the two of you run the same stage to see who finishes first. Everything is local, with no online play.
Will your group like it?
Pairs on one couch, like a parent with a kid, where one leads and the other helps without much pressure.
Groups of three or more, since the base game takes two, or friends who want to play online, because there's no online mode.
