What is The First Descendant like?

Up to four Descendants run co-op shooter missions with their own abilities and team up to take down giant bosses.

Each of you picks a Descendant with its own abilities and the squad drops into a mission for up to four players, fighting the Vulgus, the invading aliens, and giant bosses. What drops goes into upgrading your character so you can go back to a harder mission. The game is free, and the same group can play across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

Groups of up to four who want a free looter shooter with long-term progression and don't mind everyone playing from a different platform.

No

Anyone who wants no in-game purchases: it has Caliber, the paid currency, plus battle passes and cosmetics. There is no same-screen play either, and the PS4 and Xbox One versions lost support in June 2025.
