What is Total War: Rome II like?

Each of you leads an ancient faction such as Rome or Carthage, managing provinces and armies turn by turn on a Mediterranean map and fighting battles in real time. Battles can combine armies and fleets.

Two of you can start a campaign as allies or as rivals, each with your own faction and a city or two, and play toward conquering the map over many evenings, saving between sessions. In a co-op campaign the battle screen shows your partner's nearby armies as reinforcements, so you know whether they'll join the fight. While the AI factions take their turns you both wait. For a single evening, multiplayer battles put up to eight players in four-against-four fights, including city sieges and naval battles.
