What is State of Decay 2 like?

You run a community of survivors in an open world full of zombies, scavenging food, medicine and materials, upgrading the base and destroying plague hearts. When a survivor dies, they're gone for good.

The host's community is the one in play, and guests join with a survivor from their own community. Guests stay tethered to the host, and each loot container is marked with the color of the player who can open it. Only the host can build rooms or claim outposts, and if a guest's survivor dies there, they're dead in the guest's own game too. Helping clear infestations or destroy plague hearts fills a rewards bar that sends supplies to the guest's base when they leave.
